CUSTOM WORKSHOPS

I offer custom programs that can include interactive presentations, group fitness classes, brown bag lunches, individual consultations for employees and online “menus” of exercises that address the posture issues that can lead to chronic pain, and decreased productivity. Exercises can be designed for home, work, or both.

Programs can also be specific to your work environment—whether you are on a computer, at a salon station, or doing heavy lifting– so you maximize benefits and reduce the chance of on the job injuries or work related disability.

SITTING FOR MEDITATION (AND DAILY LIFE)

Pain can be a great spiritual teacher.  But sitting for meditation does not need to hurt.

Often, when we experience muscle and joint pain, we are simply violating a law of gravity. If you meditate and experience pain or tension, join me to learn tips for sitting without pain.

In this one hour workshop, we will explore:

· simple effective techniques to enhance your ability to be in your own body and mind, here and now

· similarities between populations that can sit without pain and instructions for sitting posture

· sitting on a chair or cushion

· changes in the breath based on sitting positions

· the connection between poor posture, pain and tension

ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION EXERCISE PROGRAM

I am excited to announce that I am working towards certification as an Instructor for the community based group recreational exercise program developed by the Arthritis Foundation. 

The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program promotes self-management of arthritis through exercise. The program is offered at basic and advanced levels, and is available throughout the country in many convenient community-based settings. Activities include endurance building, balance exercises, relaxation techniques and health education segments. A detailed listing of classes in local areas can be found on the Arthritis Foundation website at www.arthritis.org.

The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases.

I will be teaching at the JCC of SF starting in the winter 2010. Stay tuned for dates and details!
